Busy weekend!

Well, this weekend was packed! Apparently Friday was a popular day to get married because it was 8/8/2008... so, i had 3 cakes Friday, and one Saturday. The three cakes Friday were all rentals, customized to each wedding theme, with a real bottom tier for cutting and serving. Here they are:

Congrats Pam and Gary, Krystle and Nathan, Jaime and Curtis!

Then Saturday was another wedding, nice and simple, but really pretty! I loved how they decorated the hall....

The cherry on top!

Another cupcake wedding! This time it was 150 cupcakes of various flavors, all frosted with a creamy orange butter cream and topped with a maraschino cherry. For the cutting ceremony, the couple had a red fondant cake, with a orange embellishment piped on to match the wedding invitations. We used a deep red cupcake liner to keep with the theme... a very fun and beautiful arrangement!

Congrats Jenna And Mike!

Black and White Wedding

This cake stand was a custom design, for a black and white themed wedding. They had 100 cupcakes, and a 6inch cutting cake. Artificial red roses were added for color. I really liked this one, very classic, yet modern!

Congratulations, Pamela and Murray!

Guinness cap cake

This cake was for a lady who is a fan of Guinness ( obviously! ). Her husband wanted something special for her birthday, and we came up with the idea of doing a cake that looked like a bottle cap. The year was changed to match her birth year, and i replaced "draught" with her name. The actual cake is a chocolate Guinness cake, so it is Guinness through and through! This cake could be done is many sizes, to serve a variety of guest numbers.

Thanks again to my husband who helped with the small details...

And Happy Birthday Rhonda!

Titanic cake

This cake was for a special little boy who was turning 7 . Apparently , he is obsessed with the Titanic! Well, so is my husband so he took the lead on this one. He designed the ship and iceberg which were both made of cookie, covered in fondant. I will have to get him to help out more often, he did a great job!

Thanks Justin, and Happy Birthday Jaiden!

Cupcake wedding

This Wedding had a flower theme for the cupcakes. Each cupcake was made to look like a rose, with a sugar leaf tucked into every one. The bride made her own custom stands, and did a fabulous job! If you are not so artistically inclined, or just don't have the time, i can build you a custom stand for your wedding.

Congrats Natosha and Jonathan!

Tall tier cupcake wedding

This Wedding had a purple theme, and the bride wanted a cutting cake as well as a cupcake for each of her guests. The stand is available for rental, and can be up t0 6 tiers high.

Congrats Amy!

Chocolate brown and Turquoise

This cake was designed by the groom! The inspiration came from the invitation ( he designed that as well!) which included chocolate brown vines with two different turquoise flowers, on an ivory base. The top two tiers were fake, and the bottom was an amaretto sponge cake covered in rich chocolate fondant. Yum!

Congrats Danielle and Jon!

* Custom cake plate was made to match the cake

Wedding Cake on a budget!

Here are just some examples of what you can do with a simple white square wedding cake. Things need not be complicated, and it can also bring your costs down! These cakes are actually display cakes. These rental/display cakes can be square or round, customized with your choice of ribbon and/or flowers , and paired with a delicious sheet cake to be served to the guests. No one will know the difference, and it can dramatically reduce the cost of your cake. Rental cakes can be as low as $40, leaving you plenty of room for other wedding expenses. Feel free to email for more information!

Chocolate Guinness Cake!

I adapted one of my moms "famous" chocolate cake recipes , switching the coffee with Guinness stout. I carved the outside, covered it with fondant and painted the Gold logo on it to make it look like a pint of Guinness. This cake came out really well. Because it was carved i got the chance to taste it, and even though i don't like beer, i really enjoyed it.

R.C.M.P birthday cupcakes!

I got a request all the way from Vancouver, to make cupcakes for someone in the R.C.M.P training facility here in Regina. I decided to do red icing, to resemble the red uniform, and make little hats out of fondant. This was so fun!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALVIN!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Here is a sample if the Christmas baking i am doing. These are just the cookies, but i am doing cupcakes and cakes as well.

Cookies are iced with rolled marshmallow icing which is a pretty alternative to royal icing and just as tasty.

Cupcakes will be iced with whipped butter cream in three colors: red white and green, and decorated with mistletoe and snowflakes etc.

Cakes that are popular right now are ones that look like wrapped gifts. These can be made in any sized square or rectangle and decorated with festive colors.

Please let me know if you have any special requests, and try to place your order well ahead of time so you can have it when you need it.

Novelty cake

I thought i would add a couple more pictures of the popcorn cake , here is one of my daughter trying to eat the popcorn off of it ( she knows what the good stuff is now!) and the other picture is the cake with the star cupcakes i made to go along with it.

Novelty Cake

Here is a cake I made for the church movie night. I thought it would be fun to have a cake that looked like a box of popcorn to go with their movie star theme. I also made star shaped cupcakes just in case more kids showed up.

Coming soon

I know i don't have many pictures posted but that is going to change soon. This weekend i am preparing a small wedding cake, as well as an anniversary cake, both with fondant. Next wednesday i am preparing a novelty cake for the church. In late november i am making a really unique cake which i cannot describe just in case the recipient is looking, but it is a very cool cake and i will post a picture as soon as it is finished.

So come back again in a week or so and be sure to let me know what you think!!

so far, so good, so messy!

well i tried the fondant sunday, was great but then i added a tiny bit of water as per the instructions and- boom, it went all tough on me..... so today i braved it again. This time i used the microwave to melt the marshmallows (that worked really well, and they didn't stick!) and then added the sugar, my hands got pretty sticky but the"dough" went well, and is resting now. it should be perfect tomorrow. once i find my camera cord i will take a picture and post it. and the taste, well it is actually edible, compared to wilton brand fondant. it is definitely encouraging.....
